The fu­neral for El­iz­a­beth “Liz” Mur­phy, for­merly of Mount Stewart, was held on Mon­day, July 13, 2015 from Hen­nessey Cut­cliffe Char­lot­te­town Fu­neral Home to St. An­drew’s Church, Mount Stewart, where the fu­neral mass was cel­e­brated by Rev­erend John Lacey, who also de­liv­ered the homily. The first les­son was pro­claimed by daugh­ter, Bev­er­lee Jor­gensen, and the sec­ond les­son was pro­claimed by son, Brian Mur­phy. The prayers of in­ter­ces­sion were of­fered by son, Brian Mur­phy and daugh­ter, Bev­er­lee Jor­gensen. The fu­neral mass was sung by St. An­drew’s Parish choir. The or­gan­ist was Bar­bara McKenna. Dur­ing the fu­neral, the choir sang the en­trance hymn, Be Not Afraid; the psalm, Rest In God Alone; the of­fer­tory hymn, Isa­iah 49; the com­mu­nion hymn, As Sure As The Morn­ing; the post com­mu­nion hymn, Hail Mary, Gen­tle Woman; and the re­ces­sional hymn, Like A Shep­herd. The pall­bear­ers were sons, Wayne Mur­phy, Bren­don Mur­phy, David Mur­phy, Brian Mur­phy, Clarence Mur­phy, and daugh­ter, Bev­er­lee Jor­gensen, grand­sons, Jonathan Mur­phy and Steven Mur­phy. The in­ter­ment took place in St. An­drew’s Parish Ceme­tery where Fa­ther Lacey held the grave­side ser­vice.
