The fu­neral for John P. Rose, of Char­lot­te­town, was held on Wed­nes­day, July 15, 2015 from Hen­nessey Cut­cliffe Char­lot­te­town Fu­neral Home Chapel where the ser­vice was con­ducted by Rev­erend Mau­rice Praught. Dur­ing the ser­vice, the brass quin­tet of Evan Ham­mel, Justin Amador, Laura MacLeod, Daniel Mac­Don­ald, and grand­son, Henry Or­ford, played the spe­cial mu­sic, Just A Closer Walk With Thee, Obliv­ion, and All You Need is Love. Grand­daugh­ter, Whit­ney Rose, ren­dered the mu­si­cal se­lec­tion, Ring Of Fire, ac­com­pa­nied by gui­tarist, Ni­chol Robert­son. The or­gan­ist was Linda Do­iron who played the open­ing hymn, One Day At A Time, and the re­ces­sional hymn, How Great Thou Art. Dur­ing the ser­vice, daugh­ter, Karen Rose, gave words of re­mem­brance on be­half of her fam­ily, and grand­chil­dren, Mar­garet Or­ford, Alicia Jud­son and Josh Jud­son, read po­ems in hon­our of their grand­fa­ther. Honorary pall­bear­ers were ev­ery­one in at­ten­dance. Among those at­tend­ing the ser­vice were rep­re­sen­ta­tives of Vet­er­ans Af­fairs Canada, Home Care, Anne of Green Gables Choco­lates, Mar­itime Elec­tric and Sek­isui Di­ag­nos­tics P.E.I.
