Mimi Blass to per­form at Milton Hall

The Queen of Rag­time Mimi Blass will be in con­cert at the Milton Hall on Satur­day, July 18, 7:30 p.m.

Known as Mon­treal's pi­ano phe­nom, Blais is one of the most highly trained and gifted pi­anists on the U.S. and in­ter­na­tional cir­cuits, par­tic­u­larly noted for her flaw­less tech­nique at the pi­ano, her wit and charm­ing French ac­cent, as well as the hu­mor­ous gaslight era per­sonas she adds to her en­er­getic and highly en­ter­tain­ing per­for­mances.

Of­ten dubbed the fe­male Vic­tor Borge, the Ce­line Dion of the key­board and the French Cana­dian Lib­er­acette, she is a head­liner at mu­sic fes­ti­vals world­wide, in­clud­ing the Sziget Fes­ti­val in Bu­dapest, the Bohem Rag­time and Jazz Fes­ti­val in Kecskemet, Hungary, and the Oslo, Nor­way Jazz Fes­ti­val.

In 2013, she was in­vited by the Cana­dian Em­bassy to per­form in Switzer­land, Hungary, Ser­bia and Mon­tene­gro. In sum­mer 2014, she played in France and in the Ned­er­land.

She stud­ied at the Que­bec Con­ser­va­tory of Mu­sic and McGill Univer­sity in Mon­treal, earn­ing ad­vanced de­grees in both clas­si­cal pi­ano and per­form­ing arts.
