Marco Polo Land presents The Grandaddys of Rock ‘N’ Roll Vol. II on July 18, 8-10 p.m., in The Galley Restaurant

Admission is available at Marco Polo land office or at the door, subject to availability.

People are invited to enjoy an evening filled with memorable dance tunes and diverse vocals and harmonies.

The band members have been playing rock ‘n’ roll for over 50 years on and off the Island in different groups but recently formed their own group, The Grandaddys of Rock and Roll.

The musicians are proud to say their ages range from 67 to 74 and that they are still involved in music that they love. Grooup members include Jimi Platts, lead guitar and vocals, Heartz Godkin, bass and vocals, Niall MacKay (the P.E.I. granddaddy of rock ‘n’ roll), drums and vocals, Doug MacEwen, keyboard, and Gary Cudmore.

“I proceeded to pull them together for the memories and love of music and it’s worked out just great,” says Platts, who played for Johnny Pay Check, Faron Young, Dave Dudely and Jeanne Sheppard, to name a few.

“I once again assembled the members this spring to my studio called Sleepy Hallow Studio, where we recorded and I produced the second volume of the Grandaddys’ two CDs, Vol-1 and Vol-2.
