MacAulay earns invite
Mount Herbert native Shannon MacAulay is one of 24 forwards and 43 players invited to Canada’s national women’s development team selection camp Aug. 6-16 in Calgary, Alta. MacAulay captained the Clarkson University Golden Knights of the Division 1 Eastern Collegiate Atlantic Conference last season, finishing second in team scoring with 16 goals and 33 points in 38 games. Earlier this year, she helped Canada’s national development team win the Nations Cup in Germany. Two seasons ago she led the Potsdam, N.Y., school to a NCAA Division 1 women’s hockey championship. The 21-year-old has a gold medal with the Canadian national under-18 team won at the 2012 world championship. She was also a member of Team P.E.I. at the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax, N.S. The invitees will vie for spots on the 23-player squad that faces the United States women’s under-22 team Aug. 19-22 in Lake Placid, N.Y.
