MacAu­lay earns in­vite

Mount Herbert na­tive Shan­non MacAu­lay is one of 24 for­wards and 43 play­ers in­vited to Canada’s na­tional women’s de­vel­op­ment team se­lec­tion camp Aug. 6-16 in Cal­gary, Alta. MacAu­lay cap­tained the Clark­son Univer­sity Golden Knights of the Di­vi­sion 1 Eastern Col­le­giate At­lantic Con­fer­ence last sea­son, fin­ish­ing sec­ond in team scor­ing with 16 goals and 33 points in 38 games. Ear­lier this year, she helped Canada’s na­tional de­vel­op­ment team win the Na­tions Cup in Ger­many. Two sea­sons ago she led the Pots­dam, N.Y., school to a NCAA Di­vi­sion 1 women’s hockey cham­pi­onship. The 21-year-old has a gold medal with the Cana­dian na­tional un­der-18 team won at the 2012 world cham­pi­onship. She was also a mem­ber of Team P.E.I. at the 2011 Canada Win­ter Games in Hal­i­fax, N.S. The in­vi­tees will vie for spots on the 23-player squad that faces the United States women’s un­der-22 team Aug. 19-22 in Lake Placid, N.Y.
