Gov­ern­ment House gar­den party takes place on Wed­nes­day

Visi­tors are in­vited to the an­nual Gov­ern­ment House gar­den party from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wed­nes­day, July 22. Res­i­dents and visi­tors alike are welcome and there is no dress code.

“This an­nual tra­di­tion is al­ways pop­u­lar and the grounds of Fan­ning­bank are be­ing pre­pared with ex­tra seat­ing and ta­bles,” states a news re­lease from Lt.Gov. Frank Lewis and his wife Dorothy.

Light re­fresh­ments will be avail­able in­clud­ing bev­er­ages, sweets, straw­ber­ries and ice cream. The pop­u­lar flower gar­dens will be ac­ces­si­ble for walk­ing and pic­tures.

The Front Porch T-D Jazz Band will be pro­vid­ing the mu­sic this year.

Other than the day of the gar­den party, Gov­ern­ment House is open for free, bilin­gual guided tours un­til the end of Au­gust, Mon­day to Fri­day, with tours ev­ery half hour start­ing at 10 a.m. and con­tin­u­ing un­til 3:30 p.m. with­out ap­point­ment. Ad­vance no­tice of groups larger than 10 peo­ple is al­ways ap­pre­ci­ated. Other times for group tours can be ar­ranged by ap­point­ment. Visi­tors to Gov­ern­ment House are re­minded that park­ing is lim­ited at all times and re­stricted on the day of the gar­den party to those re­quir­ing mo­bil­ity as­sis­tance.
