WestJet adds flights to Toronto, Florida

It’s go­ing to be eas­ier for Is­lan­ders to get to Florida this win­ter af­ter WestJet adds a weekly di­rect flight from Char­lot­te­town to Or­lando.

Char­lot­te­town Air­port Au­thor­ity CEO Doug Newson said the air­port was pleased to see WestJet launch the new prod­uct for its mar­ket.

“This is great news for Is­lan­ders as the com­mu­nity and our fre­quent trav­ellers have been look­ing for di­rect ser­vice to Florida from Char­lot­te­town for a long-time.”

The sea­sonal weekly ser­vice from Char­lot­te­town to Or­lando starts Dec. 18 and will run ev­ery week un­til April 29, 2016.

The flight will leave Char­lot­te­town at 4:50 p.m.

Trav­ellers are also get­ting daily flights to Toronto start­ing Oct. 26.

Those flights will de­part Char­lot­te­town at 6:25 a.m.

“This is a con­sid­er­able change to our win­ter prod­uct of­fer­ing as it will more than dou­ble our WestJet do­mes­tic ca­pac­ity in the win­ter months and pro­vide another al­ter­na­tive for trav­ellers want­ing to start their travel day from P.E.I. early in the morn­ing,” Newson said.
