We are in P.E.I. not N.Y.

The Guardian (Charlottetown) - - EDITORIAL -

In her thoughtful review of Steven Mayoff ’s Our Lady of Steerage (Guardian, Saturday, 18 July), Elizabeth Cran remarks that “B&B has its roots in Jericho, New York. How it got to the island, where it seems to be putting down roots, is a mystery to us.”

We are grateful to Ms. Cran for providing this opportunity to clarify our position. The office of Bunim & Bannigan, Ltd. Is at 174 Sydney Street in Charlottetown, and has been there since 2010, when our partner, operating out of East 14th Street in New York City passed away. No B&B business is conducted in Jericho, New York, which is simply our New York State corporate address.

The cause of the confusion is no doubt our predilection for keeping a low profile. As we distribute books in the U.S. as well as Canada, we do not confine ourselves to island-based authors and artists such as Steven Mayoff.

In addition to works by authors in the U.K. and U.S., we have published books by island author David Helwig and island artist John Burden, and shall be shortly publishing The Grumbling Hive Revisited, illustrated by the four MacAdam family artists of West St. Peters. Our editorial and design work is mostly executed by island talent.
