Communities in Bloom judges here July 21-23
A previous international winner, the City of Charlottetown is welcoming national Communities in Bloom judges from July 21-23. Charlottetown has entered the class of champions category and will be judged on qualities such as tidiness, environmental action, heritage conservation, urban forestry and floral displays. The City of Charlottetown won the national title in 2001 and 2007 and the international challenge in 2011. Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee said, “Each year, our citizens get heavily involved. They demonstrate their civic pride and help us promote our green spaces, sustainable initiatives and beautification efforts.” The judges will begin their evaluation of Charlottetown on Wednesday by visiting Confederation Landing and participating in a heritage walking tour downtown. The results of the judging will be announced during the Communities in Bloom symposium and awards ceremonies in Kamloops, B.C., between Sept. 30 and Oct. 3.
