Gover­nor’s Plate con­so­la­tion starters head­line rac­ing card

A trio of Gover­nor’s Plate con­so­la­tion starters duke it out again tonight at Red Shores at Summerside Race­way in the first Wed­nes­day card of the sea­son.

Post time for the 12-dash card is 7 p.m.

Machinthe­sand, a third-place fin­isher in Satur­day’s $5,000 con­so­la­tion, has drawn the out­side Post 6 for own­ers Noo­nan Hold­ing Ltd., Rus­sell and Karen Noo­nan.

The Hughie Mur­phy-trainee re­unites with Kenny Mur­phy in Race 11 on the card.

From 14 starts this sea­son, the son of Mach Three has five vic­to­ries and has banked more than $6,600.

He meets Out­side The Wire, which has drawn Post 4 for own­ers An­drew Avery and John Bro­drick. Out­side The Wire fin­ished sixth in the con­so­la­tion and has the driv­ing ser­vices of Gilles Bar­rieau, the Basil Whe­lan me­mo­rial win­ner.

Bar­rieau holds a one-win lead over Corey Macpher­son and Marc Camp­bell for top driver for the Summerside meet.

Oh To Be Me has drawn into Post 3 for owner, trainer and driver Gary Chap­pell.

The top class also fea­tures Cambest Kisser, Car­rera An­gel and Mo­torino.

The card also fea­tures In­stant Shadow, the first two-year-old win­ner of the sea­son at Red Shores, which has drawn the rail in the fifth race.
