Ceilidh in the City presents inspirational night of music
Kelley Mooney, Kim Mooney and Larry Koughan guest performers tonight in Charlottetown
Ceilidh in the City will feature an evening of inspirational and gospel music tonight with special guest performances by Kelley Mooney, Kim Mooney and Larry Koughan.
For the past three seasons, Ceilidh in the City has had two special shows featuring gospel music and some of the best known Christian singers on P.E.I. Kelley Mooney is a name which needs little introduction in this province or to Youtube viewers around the globe after her lyrical adaptation of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah vent viral with just under one million views. She recently released her newest album, “Still”, which features Mooney's venture into Christian music with a rich blend of original compositions and traditional selections, many which she will be sharing with the ceilidh audience.
Joining her is her sister, Kim Mooney, and Larry Koughan. Kim, a piano player and harmony singer, will be joining Kelly and Koughan for several numbers.
Koughan is a singer and guitar player with a wide vocal range who does renditions of both traditional and contemporary tunes like I Can Only Imagine by the Christian group, Mercy Me.
The three performers will be joining the weekly hosts of the Ceilidh in the City, Kendall Docherty, Peter Burke, Heartz Godkin and Brian Knox, at the Murchison Centre on St. Pius X Avenue in Charlottetown.
The concert series takes place at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. for general admission. There is a weekly 50/50 draw and canteen service, with proceeds directed to the P.E.I Canadian Mental Health Association.
Group reservation are accepted, and special seating can be arranged for those travelling with medical or special mobility needs by calling Docherty at 902-569-1133 or Knox at 902569-3327. For more information, follow along online at facebook.com/CeilidhInTheCity.
