Planning for Christmas in July
Santa’s Angels announce their second annual Summer Festival
Santa’s Angels, a volunteer group from Charlottetown and surrounding communities, go into the community early Christmas morning providing gifts, food and a visit from Santa to families who need a touch of love on that special day.
The angels have been in operation for 11 years, and the program is growing each year. Between visiting homes, hospitals, group homes, long-term care facilities and the addiction centre, they bring smiles to hundreds of individuals, families and children’s faces each year.
“There is a lot of need in our community and we try to put a little joy in people’s lives at a time of year that can be wonderful, but also very difficult for some

families,” says angel’s co-founder and chairman Kenny Zakem.
With this in mind, the angels are announcing a relatively new fundraising effort, their second annual Summer Festival, happening Sunday, July 26, noon to 6 p.m. at Victoria Park, in the field across from the cannons.
The day will be a fun event for families and people of all ages. Kids can play on blow-up bouncies from Par-T-Perfect P.E.I., pet live animals in the petting zoo and get their faces painted. Mr. Magic will perform on stage as well as plenty of other local acts such as Joey Kitson, Steadfast, Emerald Junction and Angelina MacKinnon to name a few. Those in attendance will also be able to hang out with the likes of Olaf and Elmo.
Players from the Charlottetown Islanders hockey team will be there and there will be a dunk tank, police and fire trucks an obstacle course, lots of food to eat and more.
It is free to enter, with some attractions having a cost and others being free. The best part is that Santa will be there giving small presents out to the kids.
The purpose of the festival, other than having a fantastic time, is to bring awareness to the Santa’ Angels project and to raise funds for Christmas 2015.
“We anticipate a great day for our organization and our community on July 26th,” said Zakem.
“Come out and enjoy the beauty of Victoria Park, our Angel’s hospitality and some fun with your families and neighbours.”
