The P.E.I. Sco­tia­bank Reds’ un­der-18 girls soft­ball team is 2-0 at the All-Amer­i­can Chal­lenge in Low­ell, Mass. The Reds, be­hind a strong pitch­ing per­for­mance by Alyssa Flem­ing, opened with a 2-0 win over the New Eng­land Diamond Gems in the morn­ing, and then out­lasted the New Hamp­shire Mys­tics 8-7 in the af­ter­noon. Emily Broth­ers, who recorded the save against the Diamond Gems, led the Reds’ of­fence against New Hamp­shire, go­ing 2-for3 with two dou­bles. Jada Yeo was 2-for-3 with an RBI in the opener and 2-for-3 with two dou­bles in Game 2. “We played ex­cel­lent de­fence in our first game, and in the sec­ond af­ter be­ing down by four runs, the bats came alive like,” said man­ager Jor­dan El­lis. The Reds are sched­uled to play three games Satur­day.
