RCMP continue looking for woman who may have lept from bridge
An RCMP dive team was in the water Friday searching for a woman that may have leapt from a bridge in Covehead early Tuesday morning.
The divers began their search around 7 a.m.
An underwater remote controlled video camera was used Wednesday to search for a possible body.
Police are still asking the public to report any missing person or if someone was walking on the Covehead bridge early Tuesday morning to contact the RCMP at 902-368-9300.
The police have not received any calls to date. The search began after a couple called 911 around 1 a.m. Tuesday after seeing a woman they estimate to be between the age of 50 to 60 years old standing in the middle of the bridge.
When the couple turned back to see if she needed help, the woman was gone.
The RCMP reports that the couple searched the area below the bridge but there was no sign of the woman.
The RCMP, 413 Transport and Rescue Squadron out of Greenwood, N.S., Parks Canada staff, the North Shore Fire Department, P.E.I. Ground Search and Rescue volunteers, and local fishermen all joined the search Tuesday as the day progressed.
