Earle Lockerby to speak today in Malpeque

The Guardian (Charlottetown) - - FOOD / COMMUNITY -

A presentation by Earle Lockerby will be given today at the Keir Memorial Museum, Malpeque.

It will be entitled “Maps and the Army: The Military Career of Samuel Holland.”

In recent weeks visitors to the Confederation Centre Gallery have marvelled over Holland's very large (13 feet by 9 feet) hand-drawn map of Prince Edward Island which has just returned to the Island after an absence of 250 years. Historian Lockerby will describe how Holland's military career played an important role in both his training and his career success as a surveyor and cartographer.

People are asked to note that this presentation is in lieu of the previously-scheduled presentation by Katherine Dewar on Island Heroine and Great War Nurse, Lillian Pidgeon. Efforts will be made to reschedule her lecture
