An­nual Sum­mer Slam, cruise this week­end

DUN­STAFFNAGE – Car own­ers wish­ing to show off their an­tiques, mus­cle cars, hot rods and more are in­vited to as­sem­ble at the Burger King park­ing lot on Univer­sity Av­enue in Char­lot­te­town on Satur­day evening. On Sun­day, some of those same cars will be on dis­play at the 19th an­nual Sum­mer Slam be­hind the Spoke Wheel Car Mu­seum in Dun­staffnage. Clarence Foster, owner and an­tique car col­lec­tor, says he ex­pects more than 50 cars to show up for the cruise. He says some car own­ers don’t want to take part in car shows but are happy to come out and drive around the city with other en­thu­si­asts. The Cruise the Av­enue event takes place 7-9 p.m. Satur­day. The Sum­mer Slam car show is sched­uled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sun­day. The show is free for par­tic­i­pants and chil­dren and $5 for adults. Any pro­ceeds af­ter costs go to­wards char­ity or peo­ple in the neigh­bour­hood who need fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance.
