The fu­neral for Genevieve “Gen” Af­fleck of Mount Stewart was held on Mon­day, July 27, 2015 from Hen­nessey Cut­cliffe Char­lot­te­town Fu­neral Home to St. An­drew’s Church, Mount Stewart where the con­cel­e­brated fu­neral mass was of­fered by Rev­erend Mau­rice Praught as chief cel­e­brant and homilist. He was as­sisted by Rev­erend Augustine Ig­nasimuthu. The pall was placed over Gen’s casket by daugh­ters, Shirley Mac­Don­ald, Kay Af­fleck, Brenda Weather­bie and Barb Fee­han. The first les­son was pro­claimed by son, Clifford Af­fleck, and the sec­ond les­son was pro­claimed by son, Allan Af­fleck. The prayers of in­ter­ces­sion were of­fered by grand­daugh­ters, Sherri Clark and Ju­liana MacEwen. Gift bear­ers were daugh­ters-in-law, Velma Af­fleck and An­nette Af­fleck. The fu­neral mass was sung by St. An­drew’s Folk Choir who ren­dered the psalm, And I Will Fol­low, the of­fer­tory hymn, I Will Never For­get You, and the com­mu­nion hymn, Come To The Wa­ter. The en­trance hymn, Amaz­ing Grace, was ren­dered by grand­daugh­ter, Kayla Weather­bie. The re­flec­tion hymn, In The Gar­den, was ren­dered by Mar­ion Mosher, and the re­ces­sional mu­si­cal se­lec­tion was Jigs and Reels by Gary Chip­man. The pall­bear­ers were grand­sons, Joey Af­fleck, Jeffrey Af­fleck, Mike Mac­Don­ald, Kenny Fee­han, Brian Af­fleck, Derrick Dunn, Tyler Weather­bie and Matthew Af­fleck. Flower bear­ers were grand­daugh­ters, Juanita Hughes, Paula Af­fleck, Sherri Clark, Heather Mac­Don­ald, Ju­liana MacEwen, Amy McInnis, Kristina Af­fleck, Kandy Fee­han, Kelly Fee­han, Krystal Fee­han, Kayla Weather­bie and Melissa MacRae. Honorary pall­bear­ers were ev­ery­one in at­ten­dance. Among those at­tend­ing the fu­neral liturgy were rep­re­sen­ta­tives of: Mar­itime Prov­inces Har­ness Rac­ing Com­mis­sion, Coach At­lantic, DME Ltd., Canada Post, RCMP (In­ver­ness Dis­trict and North East Nova), At­lantic Bap­tist Home, Beach Grove Home, Board of Di­rec­tors and Man­age­ment of Morell Credit Union. The in­ter­ment took place in St. An­drew’s Parish Ceme­tery where Fa­ther Praught held the grave­side ser­vice.
