A ser­vice of praise and thanks­giv­ing to celebrate the life of Gor­don Weeks, hus­band of Louise Weeks, of Hunter River, was held Sun­day, July 26, 2015, at the Cen­tral Queen’s Fu­neral Home Chapel, New Glas­gow. The of­fi­ciant was Rev­erend Clair MacLeod, who also read Psalm 23 and se­lec­tions from the Gospel of John, and de­liv­ered the mes­sage. Words of re­mem­brance, writ­ten by daugh­ter, Dar­lene McAl­lis­ter, were read by grand­son, Cody Weeks. The or­gan­ist, Carolyn Ber­tram and Rev­erend MacLeod led the con­gre­ga­tional hymns, Bring­ing in the Sheaves and Shall We Gather at the River. John Ha­gan ren­dered the solo, The Farmer Song. Honorary pall­bear­ers were the staff of the QEH Same-Day Treat­ment Unit. Pall­bear­ers were Rob­bie Nantes, Roger Ni­chol­son, John Knox, Jan­har­men Hoekstra, Craig Weeks and Herbert Moore. Flower bear­ers were Eleanor Lamont, Con­nie Mac­don­ald, Kim Rodd, Nancy Richard, Lori Weeks, Caro­line MacMil­lan, Heather Turner and Vicky Mor­ri­son. Among those in at­ten­dance were rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the Green­vale Women’s In­sti­tute. In­ter­ment took place in the Hunter River Ceme­tery, where Rev­erend MacLeod con­ducted the com­mit­tal ser­vice.
