Camp­bell and Hughes share driver’s ti­tle for sec­ond year in a row

Marc Camp­bell and Ja­son Hughes bat­tled walked away tied in the driver stand­ings with 113 wins each af­ter the 11-dash card came on New Year’s Eve at Red Shores at the Char­lot­te­town Driv­ing Park.

The lead­ing reins­men went into the event with 111 win­ners each and both scored two vic­to­ries to share the ti­tle for the sec­ond year in a row.

Camp­bell jumped to the lead with vic­to­ries with Mr MacLeod for owner Mal­lory Lewis and trainer Kyle Wilkie in 2:02.1 and Win­spun Rebel for trainer Vaughn Doyle and co-own­ers Darla Jay and Shelly Wilkie, Char­lot­te­town. This trainer-own­er­ship group also had their pic­ture taken with Ideal Lifet­style to cel­e­brate a big night at the track.

Ja­son Hughes posted a driv­ing dou­ble from his stable. Stay out of my af­fair, owned by Si­mon Hughes, took Race 7 in 2:00. The Strat­ford na­tive was able to climb back to the top with Camp­bell in the stand­ings by win­ning the fi­nal race of 2015 with Sil­ver­hill Blaze in 1:59.1. Don­ald MacRae owns the pacer, who notched his sev­enth win from 35 starts.

DBS Rosco, owned by Wen­dell and Rob­bie Shaw, Summerside, and Derek Folland, Kens­ing­ton, cap­tured the New Year’s Eve fea­ture for driver Kenny Arse­nault in an im­pres­sive 1:57.2. Ea­gle Jolt was sec­ond while Sam com­pleted the tri­ac­tor. It was Arse­nault’s third win­ner of the night.

Corey MacPher­son also recorded a driv­ing dou­ble on the spe­cial race pre­sen­ta­tion. The wager was $46,684.
