As she stood outside the doors, heart racing, Danielle Glover was scared.

Behind them was the opportunity of a lifetime, a chance to live out her dream.

“As soon as I stepped into the office I was shaking. I couldn’t open the door,” said the Summerside area native. “A woman, who is now my booker, was coming off lunch break and said ‘Are you going to go in?’ I was like, ‘Ya, I think so’.”

With a deep breath, Glover pushed open the doors, a decision that changed her life.

“They were having a casting and all the girls were in their bathing suits, and I was like, oh, my god, I am not actually here,” said the 19-year-old. “They gave me a contract that day.”

Since then, Glover, or as she’s known in the modelling world, Dylan G, has spent the past two years travelling the globe, a working model signed with various agencies, including the Toronto division of Elite Model Management, the biggest modelling agency in the world.

The five-foot-nine-and-halfinch tall, 120-pound blondehaired beauty, with an infectious smile and friendly hazel-green eyes, now calls Toronto home.

Her life consists of casting calls or, as they’re known in the business, “go-sees” photo shoots and fashion runways — work she hopes will launch a career that could make her a household name.

Social media was instrumental in giving the teen her start. An avid user of the photo-sharing site, Instagram, Glover followed Elite Toronto.

“I made it my goal that I was going to be signed with them,” she said. “I was really obsessed with Instagram and started building up my followers.” Then, came her chance. A smaller Toronto agency was holding a contest, asking followers to post a photo and use their hashtag in the hopes of being “discovered”.

Glover caught their eye and was asked to Toronto.

But a contract with Elite was her goal.

Glover flew to the city, started contacting agencies and got a response from Elite. The next day, they signed her to a twoyear contract, which was recently renewed.

She is also signed with agencies M+P in London and Pop in Milan and New York, has appeared in a campaign for Aldo and shot a commercial for Hakim Optical.

“I’ve been really busy. I really like working in Toronto because it is a smaller market so you can get bigger things,” added Glover.

She has appeared in a few magazines, including Australia’s Zoom, in which she had a 15page spread, as well as in Turkey’s l’Officiel and Canadian magazine, Chloe.

She’s a realist and knows the window of opportunity, as she reaches 20, closes fast.

Glover plans to further her education, either to study business or nursing.

Next up is New York, a place that can make or break a model.

“I am signed in New York but haven’t been there yet,” said Glover, adding she expects to go to the Big Apple in February. “I am trying to get my foot in the door.”

She would love to work with Victoria Beckham, Coach, Prada or Burberry.

But for now Glover is just enjoying the model life.

“I learned more in two years than I have my whole life,” she added. “I honestly love it.”
