A brief history

The Guardian (Charlottetown) - - PROVINCE -

Florence Simmons Performance Hall The hall has an “amazing history”. Back during Prince of Wales College days, it was referred to as the auditorium. It was used for examinations, gatherings for students, plays, movies and musicals as well as the first-ever P.E.I. music festival. Over time, it evolved into a venue with a broader use including athletic events. Then it became a gymnasium first for Prince of Wales College and then, more recently for Holland College. Groups that performed there included Anne Murray, Gordon Lightfoot, the Irish Rovers, Ian and Sylvia and dozens of others. Source: Michael O’Grady
