Weather fac­tor in pedes­trian death in Cra­paud

A 45-year-old woman from the Cra­paud area is dead fol­low­ing a pedes­trian accident Mon­day.

She was walk­ing on the Tran­sCanada High­way in the heart of the town where the high­way forms the ma­jor in­ter­sec­tion with Route 13.

East Prince RCMP got the call just be­fore 6 p.m.

“A ve­hi­cle, trav­el­ling south­east on Route 1, struck a pedes­trian and the 45-year-old woman from the Cra­paud area died as a re­sult of her in­juries,” said a state­ment is­sued by the po­lice force Mon­day.

In keep­ing with a new pol­icy of the RCMP, it will not be re­leas­ing the name of the woman, but it did say that fam­ily have all been no­ti­fied.

The male driver of the ve­hi­cle was not in­jured, said po­lice.

Weather con­di­tions af­fect­ing vis­i­bil­ity and roads were not good at the time, said the RCMP.

A col­li­sion an­a­lyst at­tended the scene and the in­ves­ti­ga­tion is on­go­ing.
