Ar­rested for rob­bery

Al­ber­ton man in court to­day af­ter se­niors home res­i­dent robbed.

A 46-year-old Al­ber­ton man has been charged with steal­ing a large amount of cash from an el­derly man.

Al­lan Gal­lant faces charges of rob­bery, ad­min­is­ter­ing a nox­ious seda­tive, and ut­ter­ing threats.

Gal­lant is in cus­tody and will ap­pear for a show cause hear­ing to­day in provin­cial court in Summerside.

RCMP Cpl. Steve MacDonald says the po­lice con­tinue to in­ves­ti­gate the in­ci­dent and notes po­lice are look­ing to in­te­view other “per­sons of in­ter­est’’.

MacDonald says the al­leged crimes against a 82-year-old Al­ber­ton man took place on Dec. 21.

The se­nior sought med­i­cal at­ten­tion the day af­ter the al­leged rob­bery, was ad­mit­ted for ob­ser­va­tion and re­leased from hos­pi­tal two days later.
