A 30-year-old Pleasant Grove man charged in connection with a shooting incident in that community last month has agreed to remain in custody until his next court appearance Jan. 18.

Matthew Brian Misener consented to remand during a show cause hearing before a justice of the peace.

Misener, who sat quietly beside his lawyer during the hearing, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of careless use of a firearm.

The charges against the accused stem from an incident early Christmas morning in which two men suffered gunshot wounds.

One of those men was treated at hospital and released, while the other was transported to hospital in Halifax for further treatment.

Members of Misener’s family were present in the courtroom for the hearing.

A publication ban was imposed at the request of the Crown.
