Lynx scratch out win over ju­nior Aces

Three sec­ond-pe­riod goals salted away a 5-1 win for the South­side MacDonald’s Ex­ca­va­tion EF MacPhee Lynx over the Tig­nish Perry’s Con­struc­tion Aces in Razzy’s Ju­nior C Hockey League ac­tion Sun­day in Summerside.

Nick Van­dervelden, Michael Lawless (1-1) and Brady Van­dervelden (1-2) pro­vided the game-clinch­ing of­fence, while Ryan Beck­ing­ham net­ted a first­pe­riod score and Nick Van­dervelden chipped in a goal in the third.

Colton Daw­son and Tyler Jurkowski each added two as­sists.

South­side led 1-0 af­ter the first pe­riod and 4-0 at the sec­ond in­ter­mis­sion.

Tig­nish out­shot South­side 3229.

Each team was 1-for-5 on the power play.

Sean MacPhee earned the goal­tend­ing win over Avery Arse­nault.

In Satur­day’s games, the Sher­wood Met­ros downed the Lynx 7-6 in over­time in Cra­paud, the North River Flames snuck past the Aces 5-4 in Corn­wall and the Belfast Down East Auto Parts Sabres thumped the Morell Fly­ers 9-1 in Belfast.
