The funeral for Jack Smallwood was held on Monday, January 4, 2016 from Belvedere Funeral Home Chapel where the service was conducted by Rev. Bill MacLeod. The organist was Helen MacRae. During the service, Kendall Docherty sang Because He Lives and One Day at a Time. Words of remembrance and family reflections were shared by Pat Neary, Jackie Smallwood, Jennifer Nucci and Sue Smallwood. Poems were shared by Christopher Smallwood, The Fallen Limb; Dane McKearney, When Tomorrow Starts Without Me; Kenneth Smallwood, Do Not Stand by My Grave and Weep; and Marc McKearney, Afterglow. The recessional hymn was Amazing Grace played by piper, Matthew MacLaine. Honorary pallbearers were everyone present. Pallbearers were Stephen Power, Dane McKearney, Marc McKearney, Mike Power, Christopher Smallwood, Scott Smallwood, Ken Smallwood and Kenneth Smallwood. Interment will take place later in People’s Cemetery, Charlottetown. The Island Shriners Club (Philae Temple) formed the honour guard. Those attending the funeral service included members of the Order of the Eastern Star. On Sunday, January 3, 2016 Charlottetown Branch No. 1 of the Royal Canadian Legion held a Service of Remembrance at the funeral home. St. John’s Lodge No. 1 A.F. & A.M. held a Masonic Memorial Service on January 3, 2016 at Belvedere Funeral Home. The service was conducted by WBro. William Reilly, orator, Bro. James McKie, senior warden, MWBro. Donald Leary, grand master, and WBro. Aaron Baird, chaplain.
