CAWLEY, Arthur “Art” Patrick
The funeral for Arthur “Art” Patrick Cawley was held on Monday, January 4, 2016, leaving the Belvedere Funeral Home for the Rite of Christian Burial with funeral mass at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Cornwall and interment at St. Martin of Tours and St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Cumberland. The principal celebrant and homilist was Fr. Robert Coady joined by co-celebrant Fr. John Lacey. The pall was placed on the casket by his wife, Donna Cawley, and two sons, Jason Cawley and Ryan Cawley. The first and second readings were proclaimed by Sandra Cawley and Jeffrey Taylor, respectively, while Rita Curran led the assembly in the Prayers of Intercession. Carol Carragher, Darlene Murphy-Taylor and Colleen MacDonald brought the gifts to the altar. Eucharistic ministers were Parnell and Beverly Grant. The altar servers were Jaden Grant, Brandon Noonan and Brett Noonan. The ushers were Eugene Murphy and Michael Murphy. Hymns for the funeral mass included God Gives His People Strength, Amazing Grace, I Know Who Holds Tomorrow and How Great Thou Art. The church choir was joined by soloist Gaye Hood who sang The Lord is My Shepard. Nathan Carragher and Katie Herr sang Hallelujah. The organist was Bernie Fields. Pallbearers were Adam Carragher, Stephen Cawley, Jim Doyle, Nicholas MacDonald, Ken MacGregor, Dan Masson, Brodie Taylor, Jeffrey Taylor and Paul Trewin. Flowerbearers were Natalie Carragher, Annabelle Cawley, Evelyn Cawley, Krista Cawley, Mary Cawley, Caleigh Chaisson, Lyndsey Dickieson and Sarah MacDonald. Honorary pallbearers were all those in attendance. Groups in attendance included representatives from the Prince Edward Home, SDU Board of Governors, Sisters of St. Martha and Veterans Affairs.
