The fu­neral for Arthur “Art” Pa­trick Caw­ley was held on Mon­day, Jan­uary 4, 2016, leav­ing the Belvedere Fu­neral Home for the Rite of Chris­tian Burial with fu­neral mass at St. Fran­cis of As­sisi Ro­man Catholic Church in Corn­wall and in­ter­ment at St. Martin of Tours and St. Fran­cis of As­sisi Ceme­tery in Cum­ber­land. The prin­ci­pal cel­e­brant and homilist was Fr. Robert Coady joined by co-cel­e­brant Fr. John Lacey. The pall was placed on the cas­ket by his wife, Donna Caw­ley, and two sons, Ja­son Caw­ley and Ryan Caw­ley. The first and sec­ond read­ings were pro­claimed by San­dra Caw­ley and Jef­frey Tay­lor, re­spec­tively, while Rita Cur­ran led the as­sem­bly in the Prayers of In­ter­ces­sion. Carol Carragher, Dar­lene Mur­phy-Tay­lor and Colleen MacDonald brought the gifts to the al­tar. Eucharis­tic min­is­ters were Par­nell and Bev­erly Grant. The al­tar servers were Jaden Grant, Bran­don Noonan and Brett Noonan. The ush­ers were Eu­gene Mur­phy and Michael Mur­phy. Hymns for the fu­neral mass in­cluded God Gives His Peo­ple Strength, Amaz­ing Grace, I Know Who Holds Tomorrow and How Great Thou Art. The church choir was joined by soloist Gaye Hood who sang The Lord is My Shep­ard. Nathan Carragher and Katie Herr sang Hal­lelu­jah. The or­gan­ist was Bernie Fields. Pall­bear­ers were Adam Carragher, Stephen Caw­ley, Jim Doyle, Ni­cholas MacDonald, Ken MacGregor, Dan Mas­son, Brodie Tay­lor, Jef­frey Tay­lor and Paul Trewin. Flower­bear­ers were Natalie Carragher, Annabelle Caw­ley, Eve­lyn Caw­ley, Krista Caw­ley, Mary Caw­ley, Caleigh Chaisson, Lyn­d­sey Dick­ieson and Sarah MacDonald. Hon­orary pall­bear­ers were all those in at­ten­dance. Groups in at­ten­dance in­cluded rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the Prince Ed­ward Home, SDU Board of Gov­er­nors, Sis­ters of St. Martha and Veter­ans Af­fairs.
