One ar­rested, an­other sought, in Al­berta homi­cide

HIGH PRAIRIE, Alta. — One of two sus­pects in the death of a man in north­ern Al­berta last sum­mer has been charged with se­cond-de­gree mur­der. Dakota An­der­son, who is 20, is ac­cused of killing Ryan Joseph Ellef­son in High Prairie late last July. RCMP say the 20-year-old al­leged vic­tim, who lived in the com­mu­nity, was found un­con­scious out­side a con­ve­nience store and died later in hos­pi­tal. An au­topsy con­firmed his death was a homi­cide. An­der­son — a res­i­dent of Gift Lake, Alta. — is to ap­pear in court on Mon­day in High Prairie. An ar­rest war­rant on a mur­der charge was is­sued Thurs­day for the se­cond sus­pect, Jesse Prestly Labou­can of Atikameg, Alta. Moun­ties said Labou­can, who is also 20, is be­lieved to be in the High Level area. Labou­can is be­lieved to be a fre­quent vis­i­tor to High Level, Peace River, Grande Prairie, High Prairie and Slave Lake in Alta., and Hay River in the Northwest Ter­ri­to­ries.
