Teen is Toronto’s first homi­cide of 2016

TORONTO — Toronto po­lice say a 17-year-old boy is the city’s first homi­cide vic­tim of 2016. They say Joseph Pe­tit got into a con­fronta­tion with two males out­side his home in the east end of the city on Mon­day af­ter­noon. Po­lice al­lege that one of the males shot Pe­tit af­ter a cou­ple of min­utes of con­ver­sa­tion. Pe­tit was taken to hos­pi­tal but died of his in­juries on Thurs­day af­ter­noon. Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the death and are urg­ing any­one with in­for­ma­tion to come for­ward.
