La­plante leads Gatineau past Isles

For­mer Char­lot­te­town Is­lan­ders for­ward Yan-Pavel La­plante scored a goal and set up four more Fri­day as the Gatineau Olympiques de­feated the Isles 75 at the Eastlink Cen­tre.

It was La­plante’s fi­nal reg­u­lar sea­son game at the rink he called home for two-and-a-half sea­sons. He now has 27 goals and 25 as­sists for 52 points in 40 games this sea­son.

Gatineau led 3-0 af­ter the first pe­riod and 4-3 af­ter the se­cond.

Alexan­dre Alain had two goals and an as­sist in the vic­tory while Alexan­dre Car­rier, Tris­ten Elie, Yakov Trenin and Ni­co­las Me­loche also scored. Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau (3), Mar­cOlivier Cre­vier-Morin (2), Guillaume McSween, Alex Bre­ton and Car­rier all had as­sists.

Filip Ryd­strom had two goals to pace the Is­lan­ders while Alexis Vanier on the power play, Will Thomp­son and Oliver Cooper each added one.

Daniel Sprong, Pierre-Olivier Joseph, Cooper and Mitchell Bal­mas each had an as­sist.

La­plante and Ryd­strom each scored short­handed.

Ma­son McDon­ald al­lowed seven goals on 28 shots for the Is­lan­ders. Mathieu Belle­mare stopped 35 shots in the win.

Gatineau was 2-for-7 on the power play while Char­lot­te­town was 1-for-6.

The Olympiques im­proved to 26-12-1-1. The Isles fell to 15-213-2 host Ri­mouski (24-12-3-1) to­day at 3 p.m.
