CAMPBELL, John “Michael”
The funeral for Mike Campbell, of York Point, was held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Cornwall. The presider for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend Bob Coady, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The first reading, from Ecclesiastes, was addressed by friend, Susan Rooke. The second reading, from Romans, was addressed by friend, Karen Cheverie. The prayers of the faithful were led by nephew, Ben Campbell. The altar servers were Louise Larkin, Loyola Griffin and Kaye Larkin, who also assisted Father Coady as a eucharistic minister with Zita Cameron and Frances McCourt. The music was provided by the St. Francis of Assisi choir led by choir director, Karen MacCannell, pianist, Bernie Field, and guitarist, Alan White. The hymns were: Entrance, Amazing Grace; psalm, The Lord Is My Shepherd, with Jennifer Scott as cantor; Gospel acclamation, Alleluia, with Jenny Lizama as cantor; offertory, On Eagle’s Wings; communion, One Bread, One Body; post communion, Hallelujah, accompanied by Alan White; commendation, Songs of the Angels; and recessional, We Shall Go Out. Honorary pallbearers were everyone present. The bearers of honour were sister, Carol Anne Eagar; and brothers, Dave Campbell and Patrick Campbell. Interment will take place at a later date in the Charlottetown Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
