Tig­nish wins, Belfast loses in over­time on home ice in Sun­day's ju­nior C ac­tion

Home teams split Sun­day's re­sults in the Razzy's P.E.I. Ju­nior C Hockey League as the Sher­wood Met­ros downed the Belfast Down East Auto Parts Sabres 43 in over­time in Belfast while the Tig­nish Perry's Con­struc­tion Aces tripled the Morell Fly­ers 63 in Tig­nish.

Belfast's de­feat was the league leader's first since Dec. 4 and only its se­cond home loss this sea­son for the 16-3-2 club.

Mean­while, Morell fell to a league-worst 2-16.

Met­ros 4, Sabres 3 (OT)

In Belfast, Brodie MacArthur scored the game-win­ning goal 2:49 into ex­tra time for the road win mak­ing a hat trick by team­mate Jake Arse­nault mean­ing­ful.

Arse­nault scored twice in the first pe­riod and gave Sher­wood a 3-2 lead five min­utes into the third un­til Belfast's Cody McGuirk tied things 3-3 two min­utes later on his se­cond goal of the game.

Michael MacQuil­lan had Belfast's other goal. Owen Arse­nault as­sisted on Arse­nault's two early goals.

Belfast out­shot Sher­wood 4024 and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Sher­wood was 0-for2 with the ex­tra man.

The Met­ros (10-9-1) led 2-0 af­ter the first, but Belfast tied the game 2-2 be­fore the se­cond in­ter­mis­sion.

Blake Arse­nault earned the vic­tory over Nolan Comp­ton.

Aces 6, Fly­ers 3

Tig­nish scored five times dur­ing the first two pe­ri­ods and dou­bled Morell for the home win.

Tyler Richard, Colton Gal­lant, Con­nor Dil­lon, Chase McCue and Jake Get­son lit the red lamp dur­ing the first 40 min­utes and sent the Aces (8-13) down the win­ning track.

Get­son added a third-pe­riod score and an as­sist for a three­p­oint out­ing.

Tig­nish out­shot Morell 36-28 and led 2-0 af­ter the first pe­riod and 5-2 at the se­cond in­ter­mis­sion.

Ben Doucette (1-1) and Ben Miller (1-1) con­nected for Morell's goals. Morell was 1-for4 on the power play while Tig­nish went 2-for-6 with the ex­tra man.

Avery Arse­nault recorded the win over Keaton Far­rell.
