Tignish wins, Belfast loses in overtime on home ice in Sunday's junior C action

Home teams split Sunday's results in the Razzy's P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League as the Sherwood Metros downed the Belfast Down East Auto Parts Sabres 43 in overtime in Belfast while the Tignish Perry's Constructi­on Aces tripled the Morell Flyers 63 in Tignish.

Belfast's defeat was the league leader's first since Dec. 4 and only its second home loss this season for the 16-3-2 club.

Meanwhile, Morell fell to a league-worst 2-16.

Metros 4, Sabres 3 (OT)

In Belfast, Brodie MacArthur scored the game-winning goal 2:49 into extra time for the road win making a hat trick by teammate Jake Arsenault meaningful.

Arsenault scored twice in the first period and gave Sherwood a 3-2 lead five minutes into the third until Belfast's Cody McGuirk tied things 3-3 two minutes later on his second goal of the game.

Michael MacQuillan had Belfast's other goal. Owen Arsenault assisted on Arsenault's two early goals.

Belfast outshot Sherwood 4024 and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Sherwood was 0-for2 with the extra man.

The Metros (10-9-1) led 2-0 after the first, but Belfast tied the game 2-2 before the second intermissi­on.

Blake Arsenault earned the victory over Nolan Compton.

Aces 6, Flyers 3

Tignish scored five times during the first two periods and doubled Morell for the home win.

Tyler Richard, Colton Gallant, Connor Dillon, Chase McCue and Jake Getson lit the red lamp during the first 40 minutes and sent the Aces (8-13) down the winning track.

Getson added a third-period score and an assist for a threepoint outing.

Tignish outshot Morell 36-28 and led 2-0 after the first period and 5-2 at the second intermissi­on.

Ben Doucette (1-1) and Ben Miller (1-1) connected for Morell's goals. Morell was 1-for4 on the power play while Tignish went 2-for-6 with the extra man.

Avery Arsenault recorded the win over Keaton Farrell.
