Fight draws po­lice to res­i­dence in Ab­ney

Kings District RCMP were called to a res­i­dence in Ab­ney early Tues­day af­ter re­ceiv­ing a re­port that a shot had been fired.

A spokesman for the RCMP said a woman con­tacted the de­tach­ment at 1 a.m. to re­port there was a male out­side her house who re­quired po­lice as­sis­tance.

Mem­bers of the de­tach­ment, as­sisted by a po­lice ser­vice dog and han­dler, made an im­me­di­ate pa­trol to the area.

Upon ar­rival, of­fi­cers as­cer­tained that dur­ing a dis­pute be­tween two men who were known to each other, a shot had been fired in­side the res­i­dence. No one had been struck. Of­fi­cers seized two firearms and a quan­tity of am­mu­ni­tion.

One of the in­di­vid­u­als in­volved was even­tu­ally lo­cated at the Queen El­iz­a­beth Hos­pi­tal in Char­lot­te­town where he had gone to re­ceive treat­ment for in­juries re­ceived in the fight; the other was lo­cated in the res­i­dence in Ab­ney.
