The fu­neral for Michael E. “Mike” Duffy, of Char­lot­te­town, was held on Wed­nes­day, Jan­uary 6, 2016 from Hen­nessey Cut­cliffe Char­lot­te­town Fu­neral Home to St. Dun­stan’s Basil­ica where the fu­neral mass was cel­e­brated by Rev­erend Floyd Gal­lant, who also de­liv­ered the homily. The first read­ing was pro­claimed by nephew, Craig Duffy, and the se­cond read­ing was pro­claimed by cousin, Jen­nifer De­meu­le­naere. The Prayers of In­ter­ces­sion were of­fered by brother-in-law, Ge­orge Cur­ley. The fu­neral mass was sung by St. Dun­stan’s Basil­ica fu­neral choir un­der the di­rec­tion of or­gan­ist, Leo Marchildon. The can­tor was Bon­nie Hood. They sang the open­ing hymn, I Heard The Voice Of Je­sus; the of­fer­tory hymn, Pre­cious Lord, Take My Hand; the com­mu­nion hymn, Dona No­bis Pacem; and the re­ces­sional hymn, How Great Thou Art. The pall­bear­ers were nephew, Terry Duffy, cousins, Derek Dil­lon and Al­lan Kelly, and friends, Eb­bie MacIn­nis, Mike Con­way and Ron­nie Atkin­son. Hon­orary pall­bear­ers were ev­ery­one in at­ten­dance. Among those at­tend­ing the fu­neral liturgy were rep­re­sen­ta­tives of High­way Safety and Depart­ment of Trans­porta­tion, In­fra­struc­ture and En­ergy, MLAs from Dis­tricts 11 and 12 – P.E.I. Lib­eral As­so­ci­a­tion, and City of Char­lot­te­town coun­cil­lors. The in­ter­ment will take place later in the Ro­man Catholic Ceme­tery.
