The fu­neral ser­vice for G. Arnold Wight­man was held on Thurs­day, Jan­uary 7, 2016 from Fer­gu­son Lo­gan Mon­tague Fu­neral Home to Hill­crest United Church. The ser­vice was con­ducted by Rev. Sheila Mal­lory. The or­gan­ist was Don­ald Fraser. Dur­ing the ser­vice, the Hill­crest United Church choir sang It Is Well With My Soul and I’ll Fly Away. Spe­cial mu­sic played on CD, was He Showed Me The Ropes, writ­ten by his son Roger Wight­man. Words of re­mem­brance were given by son, Roger Wight­man. Pall­bear­ers were Jim MacPhee, Harry An­n­ear, Ken Moar, Sandy Munro, Otis But­ler and Philip MacDon­ald. Hon­orary pall­bear­ers were ev­ery­one in at­ten­dance. Among those at­tend­ing the ser­vice in a body were Lieu­tenant-Gov­er­nor H. Frank Lewis, aide-de-camp Ken Camp­bell, MLA Allen Roach, Mon­tague mayor Richard Collins, mem­bers of the Mon­tague and Strat­ford Ro­tary Clubs, mem­bers of the Gar­den of the Gulf Mu­seum and mem­bers of the Mon­tague Fire Depart­ment, who formed an hon­our guard at the church. The com­mit­tal ser­vice took place in Com­mu­nity Park Ceme­tery.
