The funeral service for G. Arnold Wightman was held on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home to Hillcrest United Church. The service was conducted by Rev. Sheila Mallory. The organist was Donald Fraser. During the service, the Hillcrest United Church choir sang It Is Well With My Soul and I’ll Fly Away. Special music played on CD, was He Showed Me The Ropes, written by his son Roger Wightman. Words of remembranc­e were given by son, Roger Wightman. Pallbearer­s were Jim MacPhee, Harry Annear, Ken Moar, Sandy Munro, Otis Butler and Philip MacDonald. Honorary pallbearer­s were everyone in attendance. Among those attending the service in a body were Lieutenant-Governor H. Frank Lewis, aide-de-camp Ken Campbell, MLA Allen Roach, Montague mayor Richard Collins, members of the Montague and Stratford Rotary Clubs, members of the Garden of the Gulf Museum and members of the Montague Fire Department, who formed an honour guard at the church. The committal service took place in Community Park Cemetery.
