MacPher­son keeps win­ning

Ver­non River na­tive drives five win­ners Satur­day

Corey MacPher­son has picked up in 2016 where he left off at the end of 2015.

The Ver­non River na­tive notched five win­ners Satur­day at Red Shores at the Char­lot­te­town Driv­ing Park. MacPher­son had his first pic­ture taken with Political Cri­sis from the Adam Merner sta­ble and also ral­lied with Ron Gass-trainees Im a Debu­tant and Hur­ri­cane Bill. The young pi­lot ex­tended the win­ning streaks for Best Risque and Idealic Life to cap off a big af­ter­noon at the of­fice.

Best Risque de­liv­ered as the post-time favourite af­ter mak­ing a three-high move in the early go­ing to take con­trol of the race in the open mares hand­i­cap pace. The mare, trained by Brian Lad­ner, charted her fourth vic­tory in a row, win­ning by a length over Out­ra­geous Spirit (Gor­don Hen­nessey) in 2:00.3 for her 48th life­time score.

Idealic Life moved his win­ning streak to six af­ter be­ing sent to the front from out­side Post 7 to drive away on his ri­vals in a snazzy 1:57, in­clud­ing a clos­ing panel of 28.2 sec­onds. The horse is trained by Trevor Hicken for own­ers Perry Burke, Grosse-Ile, Que.; Luke Burke, Pleas­ant Grove; Robin Burke, Ten Mile House; and Kent Liv­ingston, Corn­wall.

Jan. 23 and 30 are the fi­nal cards of the win­ter meet. Post times will be slated for 12:30 p.m.
