DUFFY, Michael Edward “Mike”
The funeral for Michael E. “Mike” Duffy, of Charlottetown, was held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home to St. Dunstan’s Basilica where the funeral mass was celebrated by Reverend Floyd Gallant, who also delivered the homily. Nephew, Craig Duffy, proclaimed the first reading and cousin, Jennifer Demeulenaere, proclaimed the second reading. The Prayers of Intercession were offered by brother-in-law, George Curley. The funeral mass was sung by St. Dunstan’s Basilica funeral choir under the direction of organist, Leo Marchildon. The cantor was Bonnie Hood. They sang the opening hymn, I Heard The Voice Of Jesus; the offertory hymn, Precious Lord, Take My Hand; the communion hymn, Dona Nobis Pacem; and the recessional hymn, How Great Thou Art. The pallbearers were nephew, Terry Duffy, cousins, Derek Dillon and Allan Kelly, and friends, Ebbie MacInnis, Mike Conway and Ronnie Atkinson. Honorary pallbearers were everyone in attendance. Among those attending the funeral liturgy were representatives of Highway Safety and Department of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy, MLAs from Districts 11 and 12 – P.E.I. Liberal Association, and City of Charlottetown councillors. The interment will take place later in the Roman Catholic Cemetery.
