Bal­mas makes Cen­tral Scout­ing’s mid-term rank­ing

Char­lot­te­town Is­lan­ders cen­tre Mitchell Bal­mas is ranked 112th among North Amer­i­can skaters for June’s draft in NHL Cen­tral Scout­ing’s midterm rank­ings. The Syd­ney, N.S., na­tive has 17 goals and 10 as­sists in 44 games this sea­son af­ter a five-goal, six-as­sist rookie cam­paign in 56 games. Lon­don Knights left-winger Matthew Tkachuk was the top-ranked North Amer­i­can. Tkachuk was fol­lowed by de­fence­men Jakob Chy­chrun and left-winger Alexan­der Ny­lan­der. All three play in the OHL. Val-d’Or’s Julien Gau­thier was ranked fourth. Amer­i­can cen­tre Aus­ton Matthews, who is play­ing in Switzer­land, was the top in­ter­na­tional skater. Matthews was fol­lowed by Jesse Pulju­jarvi and Pa­trik Laine, who starred for Fin­land at the world ju­nior tour­na­ment.
