The fu­neral for Ver­non Owen Cur­ley of Brook­vale was held Fri­day, Jan­uary 8, 2016, from the Daw­son Fu­neral Home, Cra­paud, to St. Joseph's Church, Kelly's Cross, where the mass was con­ducted by Rev­erend Joseph Pal­liy­o­dil, who also pro­claimed the Gospel and de­liv­ered the homily. The pall was placed by his fam­ily. The first read­ing was pro­claimed by his son-in-law, Aaron Gau­thier, and the se­cond read­ing was done by Janet Hig­gins. Prayers of the Faith­ful were led by sis­ter-in-law, Elly Trem­blay. Hymns for the ser­vice were: En­trance, Be Not Afraid; of­fer­tory, Isa­iah 49; com­mu­nion, Lord Je­sus I Will Sing of You as I Jour­ney; in­cens­ing, Songs of the An­gels; and the re­ces­sional, How Great Thou Art. Cross bearer was Joan Camp­bell, and can­dle bear­ers were Jim Gor­man and Gary Hughes. Pall­bear­ers were Steve Cur­ley, Darcy MacLeod, Roddy MacLeod, Al­lan Mat­ters, An­thony McDon­ald and Paul Thomp­son. Flower­bear­ers were Olivia Col­borne, Debby Malone and Pamela Younker. Park­ing at­ten­dants were Joe Mat­ters and Ken Mon­aghan. Also in at­ten­dance were man­age­ment and staff of Brook­vale Ski Park, staff mem­bers of Health P.E.I., Dept. of Fam­ily and Hu­man Ser­vices, and mem­bers of St. Fran­cis of As­sisi Fra­ter­nity. Brook­vale Ski Park staff formed an hon­our guard. In­ter­ment took place in the church ceme­tery. Ar­range­ments en­trusted to Daw­son Fu­neral Home, Cra­paud.
