United Potato Growers of Canada Seminar 2016 will be held Jan. 27 at the Red Shores Racetrack and Casino in Charlottetown, P.E.I. The line-up of speakers is strong, and should provide very useful information for your farm, and for our industry. Speaker topics include Thimet 20G and SmartBox: A new formulation of Thimet will be used for 2016 and beyond. Also PMRA has made the use of a SmartBox applicator mandatory for growers who wish to use Thimet for wireworm control this spring. A representative from AMVAC, the manufacturer of Thimet, will pro- vide information on these changes, and what it means for P.E.I. growers. As well, a market outlook for the remainder of the 2016 shipping season, and predictions for 2016 potato acreage will be given. Other topics include input price monitoring and exchange rate impacts. Registration will take place from 8:30- 9 a.m. Lunch will be provided. There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is required so that we have the proper arrangements for the meeting space and for lunch.
