Rou­tine pa­trol nets drunk driver

Char­lot­te­town Po­lice Ser­vices was con­duct­ing a rou­tine pa­trol early Sun­day morn­ing at 3 a.m. on Bay­field Street and stopped a ve­hi­cle for a traf­fic of­fence. It turned out that the driver, a 34-year-old res­i­dent of Mt. Ste­wart, was im­paired, said a re­port is­sued by po­lice. The ac­cused man even­tu­ally showed in tests that he had in ex­cess of twice the le­gal amount of al­co­hol in his blood.
