Hurricanes men’s team play ACAA-leading Seawolves, Holland College women looking to gain points on road
The Holland College Hurricanes men’s volleyball team plays a home-and-home series with the UNBSJ Seawolves this weekend in Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) play.
It starts Saturday in Charlottetown at 1 p.m. and continues Sunday at 4 p.m. in Saint John, N.B.
The Seawolves (7-2) lead the ACAA while the ‘Canes are on their heels at 5-2. UNBSJ leads the season series, having won games on Nov. 15 (3-0) and Nov. 22 (3-1). The Hurricanes won on Nov. 21 in three sets.
This weekend’s games are the final two times the teams will play during the regular season. After this weekend the Hurricanes have six games remaining, four against St. Thomas and two against Sainte-Anne.
The women Hurricanes play the third and fourth games of their five-game road trip this weekend when they visit the Dalhousie AC Rams on Saturday at noon in Bible Hill, N.S., before taking on the Seawolves on Sunday in Saint John at 2 p.m.
The second-place Hurricanes (10-2) will look to continue to pressure the first-place Mount Saint Vincent Mystics (11-1) for top spot with strong performances this weekend.
The Rams (2-8) are in seventh place while the third-place Seawolves are 7-6.
The Hurricanes have won all four matchups with the teams this season.
