Lund leads way for Met­ros in shootout win over Vipers

Tan­ner Lund scored three times plus a shootout-win­ning goal to lead the A&S Scrap Metal Met­ros to a 5-4 win over the Kens­ing­ton Moase Plumb­ing and Heat­ing Vipers in Is­land Ju­nior Hockey League ac­tion Wed­nes­day in Char­lot­te­town.

The Met­ros led 2-0, 3-2 and 4-3, but the Vipers re­fused to be scared away. Kens­ing­ton’s Tan­ner MacGuigan scored with 40 se­cond left in the game to tie things 4-4 and send it into over­time.

Cale Pierce net­ted the other Met­ros goal. Lu­cas Holmes had three as­sists and Pa­trick Cum­miskey helpers.

Eas­ton Smith (1-1), Tyler Bur­ton and Camp­bell Gal­lant net­ted Kens­ing­ton’s other mark­ers while Spencer Fran­cis and Jonathan Richards each had two as­sists.

Goalies were busy as the teams fired a com­bined 93 shots their way, 53 for Kens­ing­ton and 40 for the Met­ros.

Kens­ing­ton dropped to 15-62, but earned a point for the loss and lead the four-team cir­cuit with 32 points.

The third-place Met­ros went to 6-17-1.
