Lund leads way for Metros in shootout win over Vipers
Tanner Lund scored three times plus a shootout-winning goal to lead the A&S Scrap Metal Metros to a 5-4 win over the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers in Island Junior Hockey League action Wednesday in Charlottetown.
The Metros led 2-0, 3-2 and 4-3, but the Vipers refused to be scared away. Kensington’s Tanner MacGuigan scored with 40 second left in the game to tie things 4-4 and send it into overtime.
Cale Pierce netted the other Metros goal. Lucas Holmes had three assists and Patrick Cummiskey helpers.
Easton Smith (1-1), Tyler Burton and Campbell Gallant netted Kensington’s other markers while Spencer Francis and Jonathan Richards each had two assists.
Goalies were busy as the teams fired a combined 93 shots their way, 53 for Kensington and 40 for the Metros.
Kensington dropped to 15-62, but earned a point for the loss and lead the four-team circuit with 32 points.
The third-place Metros went to 6-17-1.
