The funeral mass for Agnes Walsh was celebrated Thursday, January 14, 2016 from Hillsboro Funeral Home to St. Joachim’s Church with celebrant Fr. Gerard Tingley proclaiming the Gospel and delivering the homily accompanied by co-celebrant Fr. Charlie Cheverie. The pall was placed by children, Donna Gallant, Kathie Marshall, Barry Walsh, Jeannie Carpenter, Karen Harding, Celie Gallison, Rosalie Dawson and David Walsh. The paschal candle was lit by Frankie Gallison and Amy Dawson. The first reading was proclaimed by Trish Vardy, and the second reading was given by Megan Walsh. The Prayers of Intercession were offered by Kelley Carpenter, Logan Dawson and Krista Walsh. Music was provided by Joan Gleadall and the meditation song was by Yvonne Higgins, Mike Boudreault and Joan Murchison. The processional hymn was I Will Sing as I Journey; responsorial psalm, The Lord is My Shepherd; offertory, On Eagle’s Wings; communion, Come to the Water; meditation, Prayer of St. Francis; incense, Song of the Angels; and the recessional was a medley of fiddle tunes played by Fr. Charlie Cheverie. The gift bearers were Rebecca Dawson, Sara Visser, Janette Gallant, Ben and Tom Marshall, Kirsten, Sophie and Lexi Gallant, Kayla and Mason Vardy, Daniel and Julia FitzGerald, Bella Walsh, Kenzie Whalen, Noah and Jace Dawson, Theodore Gallant, Aby and Jaxton Walsh, Finn Carpenter, Veyla Gallison, Greyson Connolly, Mia Marshall, Noah, Jonah and Caleb Schlechter, Jennifer, Andrea, Marcos and Lucas Marshall. The eucharistic minister was Celie Gallison. The altar servers were Donna Trainor and Dianne Fraser; incense and holy water bearer was Arlene Powers; and the cross bearer was Clayton Harding. The honorary pallbearers were Mark Marshall, Justin Dawson, Logan Dawson, Matt Dawson, Mike Gallant, Andrew Walsh, David Carpenter, John Walsh, Caleb Harding, Clayton Harding and Jordan Harding. The pallbearers were Chris Gallant, Jody Walsh, Shawn Carpenter, Jake Harding, Zachary Gallison, Darren Dawson and Patrick Walsh. The flowerbearers were Tanya Walsh, Samantha Gallison, Charlotte Gallison, Rianna Schlechter and Carla Marshall. Words of remembrance were shared by Jeannie Carpenter. Interment followed at St. Joachim’s Cemetery with Fr. Gerard Tingley delivering the graveside prayers and graveside music was by piper Nick van Ouwerkerk. The Catholic Women’s League formed an honour guard, and representatives from P.E.I. Mutual Insurance Company, Agriculture Canada Charlottetown Research and Development Centre and MLA Alan McIsaac were in attendance. Completion of funeral arrangements was entrusted to Hillsboro Funeral Home.
