The death oc­curred peace­fully at the Pal­lia­tive Care of Com­mu­nity Hos­pi­tal, O’Leary, P.E.I. on Jan­uary 20, 2016 of Alvin James Shea of Water­ford, age 81 years. Born in Water­ford on May 29, 1934, he was the son of the late Ger­ald and An­nie (Brod­er­ick) Shea. Alvin spent 50 years farm­ing cat­tle on his Shea Homestead and fish­ing lob­sters out of the Skin­ner’s Pond Har­bour along with his brother Nor­bert (de­ceased 2003). He en­joyed a life­time of good neigh­bours and many friends whom he trea­sured, as ev­i­denced by the nu­mer­ous daily phone calls to/from them and the open-door phi­los­o­phy at his home. He leaves to mourn his pass­ing, his sib­lings - Lor­raine Corr, Mar­jorie Roberts, El­iz­a­beth Maguire, Geral­dine Shea, Fr. Roy Shea, Ralph (Kathy) Shea, Carmilla McAleavey, Mar­ion (Paul) Jones, Brendan (Ann) Shea, Rita MacDon­ald, John (Sharon) Shea, Wal­ter Shea, also nephew Lorne Shea and many nieces, neph­ews and their fam­i­lies. Pre­de­ceased by brothers, Kevin (Della), Louis (Kaye), Nor­bert, Richard (Elsa), and sis­ter, Mary McInnis (Earl); also pre­de­ceased by brothers-in-law, Earl Corr, John Roberts, John Maguire and An­thony McAleavey. Rest­ing at the West Prince Fu­neral Home, 522 Thomp­son Road, Palmer Road, for vis­it­ing hours Sun­day, Jan­uary 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Fu­neral will be held at the Im­mac­u­late Con­cep­tion Church, Palmer Road at 10:30 a.m. Mon­day, Jan­uary 25, 2016. In lieu of flow­ers, me­mo­rial do­na­tions made to the Fr. Roy Shea Mis­sion Fund, the Cana­dian Can­cer So­ci­ety or a char­ity of your choice would be greatly ap­pre­ci­ated. In­ter­ment will be at a later date.
