SHEA, Alvin James
The death occurred peacefully at the Palliative Care of Community Hospital, O’Leary, P.E.I. on January 20, 2016 of Alvin James Shea of Waterford, age 81 years. Born in Waterford on May 29, 1934, he was the son of the late Gerald and Annie (Broderick) Shea. Alvin spent 50 years farming cattle on his Shea Homestead and fishing lobsters out of the Skinner’s Pond Harbour along with his brother Norbert (deceased 2003). He enjoyed a lifetime of good neighbours and many friends whom he treasured, as evidenced by the numerous daily phone calls to/from them and the open-door philosophy at his home. He leaves to mourn his passing, his siblings - Lorraine Corr, Marjorie Roberts, Elizabeth Maguire, Geraldine Shea, Fr. Roy Shea, Ralph (Kathy) Shea, Carmilla McAleavey, Marion (Paul) Jones, Brendan (Ann) Shea, Rita MacDonald, John (Sharon) Shea, Walter Shea, also nephew Lorne Shea and many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by brothers, Kevin (Della), Louis (Kaye), Norbert, Richard (Elsa), and sister, Mary McInnis (Earl); also predeceased by brothers-in-law, Earl Corr, John Roberts, John Maguire and Anthony McAleavey. Resting at the West Prince Funeral Home, 522 Thompson Road, Palmer Road, for visiting hours Sunday, January 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2016. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Fr. Roy Shea Mission Fund, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Interment will be at a later date.
