Walk on Sunday includes hot chocolate, cookies at Beaconsfield Carriage House
The public is invited to join the chair of the parks, recreation and leisure activities committee, councillor Mitchell Tweel, for a winter walk along the new Victoria Boardwalk on Sunday.
The event, hosted in association with Beaconsfield Historic Home, will begin at 2 p.m.
“Between 2 and 4 p.m., come warm up in the Beaconsfield Carriage House with free hot chocolate and cookies or spend some time on the newly completed boardwalk,” a news release states.
The work on the boardwalk included the removal of the old boardwalk, improving the drainage, upgrading the stringers, upgrading the decking, widening it and upgrading the material below and behind the benches.
The walk is part of the Charlottetown parks and recreation department’s 2016 winter active campaign. It includes other free activities designed to encourage people of all ages to be more active during the winter months. There is snowshoeing, a 10-week Learn to Run program, crosscountry skiing and skating.
Details of the campaign can be found on the City’s website at www.charlottetown.ca by clicking on the Winter Activities button (Direct URL: www.charlottetown.ca/winteractive.php). Outdoor activities are weather dependent.
