Two women hit in Garfield ac­ci­dent

Po­lice in Char­lot­te­town are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a car-pedes­trian ac­ci­dent that sent two women to hos­pi­tal Satur­day night.

One of those women had to be trans­ported to hos­pi­tal in Monc­ton for fur­ther treat­ment and tests.

A spokesman for Char­lot­te­town Po­lice Ser­vices said the two women, both of whom were in their mid-40s, were walk­ing on Garfield Street when they were struck by a ve­hi­cle just be­fore 10 p.m.

A traf­fic ac­ci­dent re­con­struc­tion spe­cial­ist from the po­lice depart­ment is work­ing to de­ter­mine the se­quence of events lead­ing to the pedes­tri­ans be­ing struck.
