Sun­day drive while drunk leads to crash, charges

Char­lot­te­town Po­lice Ser­vices re­ceived a com­plaint Sun­day at 6:30 a.m. about an ac­ci­dent on River­side Drive.

Of­fi­cers ar­rived and soon de­ter­mined the driver and lone oc­cu­pant of the ve­hi­cle was drunk, said a state­ment is­sued by po­lice Mon­day.

The driver, a 53-year-old fe­male res­i­dent of Char­lot­te­town, is now fac­ing charges of im­paired driv­ing. She was not in­jured in the ac­ci­dent.

She blew read­ings show­ing twice the le­gal amount of al­co­hol in her blood, said the state­ment.
