Flames give Aces hot foot

Lange nets win­ner in shootout round

It took a shootout, but the North River Flames fi­nally bested the Tig­nish Perry’s Con­struc­tion Aces 8-7 in Razzy’s P.E.I. Ju­nior C Hockey League ac­tion Sun­day in Sum­mer­side.

Matt Lange earned the credit for the shootout win­ner. Lange (1-1) also scored in regulation time.

Matt Craig’s hat trick paced the Flames of­fence, while Liam O’Con­nor, Ethan MacFadyen and Dy­lan McKenna net­ted the mark­ers.

North River over­came Tig­nish’s five-goal se­cond pe­riod and a 6-4 deficit at the se­cond in­ter­mis­sion with three goals in the third.

The game was tied 1-1 af­ter the first.

Ry­ley Doyle (2-2), Colton Gal­lant (2-2), Tyson Car­ragher (1-1), Jake Get­son (1-1) and Con­nor Dil­lon tal­lied the Aces goals.

Alex Fran­gros earned the win over Avery Arse­nault.

North River out­shot Tig­nish 40-33 and went 2-for-8 on the power play. Tig­nish was 1-for-7 with the ex­tra man.

On Satur­day, the Flames beat the Morell Fly­ers 7-2 while South­side MacDon­ald’s Ex­ca­va­tion EF MacPhee Lynx de­feated the Sher­wood Met­ros 8-5.
