The funeral for Allan J. MacDonald of Rice Point was held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottet­own Funeral Home to Canoe Cove Presbyteri­an Church where the service was conducted by Reverend Dr. Gordon Matheson who delivered the message, A New Home. Family remembranc­es were shared by son, John MacDonald. During the service, soloist, Darlene Bradley, rendered the hymn, How Great Thou Art, and soloist, Peggy MacDonald, rendered the musical selection entitled A Fisherman’s Song. The congregati­onal hymn was Shall We Gather At The River. The organist was Matt MacLean. The pallbearer­s were sons, John MacDonald, Paul MacDonald and Mark MacDonald, grandsons, Peter MacDonald, Austin MacDonald and Allan MacNeil. The honorary pallbearer­s were Brenda and Ted Connolly, Doug MacEachern, and the Nine Mile Creek Wharf fishermen. Among those attending the funeral liturgy were representa­tives of District 17 Liberal Associatio­n, MP Wayne Easter and Rice Point Women’s Institute. Following the service the interment took place in Canoe Cove Presbyteri­an Church Cemetery.
