The fu­neral for Al­lan J. MacDon­ald of Rice Point was held on Thurs­day, Jan­uary 21, 2016 from Hen­nessey Cut­cliffe Char­lot­te­town Fu­neral Home to Ca­noe Cove Pres­by­te­rian Church where the ser­vice was con­ducted by Rev­erend Dr. Gor­don Mathe­son who de­liv­ered the mes­sage, A New Home. Fam­ily re­mem­brances were shared by son, John MacDon­ald. Dur­ing the ser­vice, soloist, Dar­lene Bradley, ren­dered the hymn, How Great Thou Art, and soloist, Peggy MacDon­ald, ren­dered the mu­si­cal se­lec­tion en­ti­tled A Fish­er­man’s Song. The con­gre­ga­tional hymn was Shall We Gather At The River. The or­gan­ist was Matt Ma­cLean. The pall­bear­ers were sons, John MacDon­ald, Paul MacDon­ald and Mark MacDon­ald, grand­sons, Peter MacDon­ald, Austin MacDon­ald and Al­lan MacNeil. The hon­orary pall­bear­ers were Brenda and Ted Con­nolly, Doug MacEach­ern, and the Nine Mile Creek Wharf fish­er­men. Among those at­tend­ing the fu­neral liturgy were rep­re­sen­ta­tives of District 17 Lib­eral As­so­ci­a­tion, MP Wayne Easter and Rice Point Women’s In­sti­tute. Fol­low­ing the ser­vice the in­ter­ment took place in Ca­noe Cove Pres­by­te­rian Church Ceme­tery.
